Hey guys! AJ Draven here, Fitness Trainer and Krav Maga expert, and most importantly– dad of 3! Our oldest kid, Xavier (age 7) is definitely our pickiest eater. We have the hardest time getting him to eat vegetables! We know it’s mental (he loved broccoli as a toddler) and pray this phase ends soon, but until then? I found a great way to sneak some healthy greens into his body without him ever losing his smile 😉 Smoothies! We’re relatively lactose intolerant over here, so our kids don’t get a lot of ice cream. Which means they got SUPER EXCITED when I introduced this Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream Flavored Smoothie (hint– it’s all about the Peppermint Oil!)
Here are the ingredients!
- ½ cup Frozen Strawberries and/or Blueberries
- ½ cup Frozen Spinach
- ½ cup Shaved Almonds (or Almond Butter, your choice)
- 1 serving Chocolate Protein Powder (We like VEGA PROTEIN SMOOTHIE
powder- it’s Vegan) - A dash of unsweetened almond milk or water (add enough so your blender will work!)
- Peppermint Vitality Oil (we use 3 drops– remember, it’s potent!)
Basically, I blend this stuff together, pour it into cups for the kids, and call it a Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream Smoothie! The peppermint oil is amazing, it really masks the flavor of everything but the chocolate protein powder. Just remember a little goes a long way, so don’t use too much or it might taste “too spicy!” What’s great is the kids think it’s a special treat. And we serve it that way! They have no idea they’re eating a TON of fruits & VEGGIES. One more thing– our kids love drinking them with extra-wide special smoothie straws ( here’s an example !) Have fun, everyone! Stay healthy!
